• Description du parcours : Fright at the Falls 5km festive fun run/walk showcases the namesake beauty of Grand Falls- the falls and gorge area the largest east of Niagara Falls where majority of the course is directly beside in multiple viewpoints. The start and finish will be at the Malabeam visitor information center. Participants of the Youth 5km and Adult 5km will go across the Ron Turcotte bridge straight on Broadway Blvd. Turn right onto Victoria St to the bottom and a hard right onto the start of the Gorge Trail scenic route, past the Zipline and under the bridge. Continue straight on the Gorge Trail, past the La Rochelle Centre and waterpark. At the entrance of the campground is the 3 corners intersection overlap and descending into more elevation changes with stairs on the Gorge trail behind the campground. Participants will then ascend on the far side of the campground to go up onto Manse St where a small portion is parallel to Union Cemetery, a local historic place designation, appropriate for the tradition of Hallowe’en festivities honouring the departed souls. At the top of Manse St hill, turn left onto Church St for the reward of a breathtaking view of the Saint John River, turn around at the pylon backtrack down the Manse St hill and cemetery. The returning portion of the course meets up at the intersection point where participants will be over hallway and turning back towards the finish line backtracking on the gorgeous Gorge Trail, back past the zipline. Up the Victoria St hill, turn left onto Broadway Blvd, and to the finish line entrance at the Malabeam. Approximately 120m elevation gain makes this course a frightful challenge filled with spooky surprises along the route. Free parking can be found at the Grand Falls Museum building across the race location on Madawaska Rd by the falls. Traffic will be slowed/cautioned not closed when sidewalks are in use during the running event. Participant waivers to be signed at bib pick up morning of. Photographer at finish line from Grand Falls Fear Fest. Not chip timed, will have live official elapsed time digital race clock displayed at finish line. Lots of prizes including random draws, best Hallowe'en costumes, etc. Costumes are optional, but we love seeing your creativity out there! Finisher medals for registered participants. Pre-event registration online and limited same-day registration available.
